Nolan Ryan was still an active pitcher when these cards were produced. He threw his record 7th no-hitter in May 1991, just months before this set was issued.

The artwork on the nine Heroes insert cards (#10-18) was painted by sports artist Vernon Wells Jr., who also illustrated the Reggie Jackson set.

Ryan signed all 2,500 copies in blue Sharpie. His signature was generally consistent, making condition premiums less steep than on some other sets.
