The unsigned 10-card Heroes insert set (#19-27) was seeded into 1992 Upper Deck Series 1 (Low Series) packs. The autographed card was sold separately by UDA and was never in packs.
Payton passed away on November 1, 1999 at age 45 from bile duct cancer. The rarity and emotional significance of his signed cards has increased considerably since his passing.
